Marketing is a subject you do not just learn overnight. The separate elements are not necessarily difficult, but to get a grasp of the overall subject will take study and experience. Something which is learned early in marketing is a concept called the 4 P’s. These points influence each another in a big way.
The first P is Price. To determine the price you have to examine the market and compare what is being offered to one’s own product. Of course the other P’s influence this element. For example, if a company is the only one in an area (Place) it will be different than when there is a lot of competition. Also the quality of the product compared to others is of influence.
Product is the second. Quality and the production process are the main ingredients you have to evaluate towards the competition. This will make it clear for you how to position your products towards others. In other words, what is unique about it?
The third is Place. Where to market your product, what are the opportunities and where are you prospects? This is easier if you have evaluated your product well. If the competition is huge, this will help to define your niche.
Promotion is fourth. You have to know your market in order to do an effective promotional campaign. Find out who will buy your product, where you find them and how to address them in order to get them buying. Look at the way others are promoting the same product and do surveys under your prospects until you really know. After that you can develop promotional items that will hit home.
The thing with the 4 P’s is that you have to juggle them around until they all fit together. They have such an influence on each other that you have to be able to manage them all correctly to make everything fit. We wish you good luck with your marketing.
