I want to start my own purse party business out of my home… But I need a distributor!?
I want to start my own purse party business out of my home… But I need a distributor! I’ve been looking all over the internet, and the places that are decently priced have junk for inventory – they don’t even look close to the real purses. Does anyone know how the purse party people get their connections? I really want to start this business, but am having the worst luck with trying to find someone to be my distributor. Also, do the websites that charge to give you their “secret list” really have any good info, or are they just trying to rip people off? Seems to me that you shouldn’t have to pay to get to a company that’s going to make money off of you anyways! HELP

Neil Walker answers:
The list folks that want you to pay are scammers. Check out tradeshows for the industry to get the inside scoop on good distributors.

Thomas asks…
I have a Purse Party business…?
I have a home based business through Purse Party. What is a good way to market myself and build a larger team. I have a strong team built so far, but I’m looking for creative ideas that are inexpensive to get my name out there more on a local basis.
I’m located in Martinsburg, WV, but I can have consultants anywhere. I dont’ want to put my website on here b/c I’m afraid yahoo will pull my question for advertising. That happened to me before. If you would like my website please email me and I will send it to you!

Neil Walker answers:
Looks like a great product and a good social opportunity for people. One of the things we do in our company is set up a “party” with the goal of setting up more “parties” (ours are called Private Business Receptions). When you are just about done with your party and everyone has a smile on their face pull out your calender and start putting more parties on it. Get a list of names from everyone in the room and call to invite those people to the next event. You may even want to start calling to invite to the next event before you end your party.
Wish you much success and I hope this helps.

TO answer the question below it can be in any state. I tried to email you back to answer, but you do not allow email. If you have more questions you can email me through yahoo.

Laura asks…
I want to open a handbag boutique in my home until I have enough seed money for a storefront. Is this smart?
My house is in business zoning & my family living quarters is upstairs. I would like to use this option for at least 6 months. Plus my wife currently runs a purse party business so I figure it would tie in. Has anyone done this before?

Neil Walker answers:
Make sure there’s no problems with neighbors for parking with your customers, and keep a lock on the upstairs as sometimes a ‘family’ will come and while you’re distracted with the customer the others wander through the home looking for things to take. It happens…. A tip off is someone asking to use the bathroom, or a kid running off rampant somewhere with a parent following behind. Keep all pets away from the customers too, for their safety and yours (in case of a bite or scratch). Not worth the lawsuit or your dog being declared ‘dangerous’.
If it’s just one on one, fine. But you’re going to get more than that, there are people who canvas places for later break ins or for spur of the moment stealing.

Charles asks…
What would be a clever name for a home based designer purse distributor?
I am building my inventory of designer purses to sell at purse parties and such. I would like to make business cards but can’t think of a catchy name. “Excess Baggage” seems so predictable. Bonus point if you can help with a tag line, too!

Neil Walker answers:
Best Bag Buys, Best Bags, Classy Clutch & Bags, Perfect Purse, Designer Purse Procurer.
Hope something sparks your interest!
