Daniel Your questions about work at home business

Daniel asks…

Does anyone have tips for starting a clerical work at home business?

I am a secretary who wishes to start my own business working at home. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has either done the same or has knowledge of it. I would like to find out how to get started, the best tips for getting the word out. I do not have a car, so I also would need to know if anyone has any ideas on customers getting the work to you and delivering it. Thanks.

Neil Walker answers:

I was a secretary many years ago and when I wanted to work at home I started my own clerical business. I came up with a name for my business and printed up business cards. I started by contacting other business like this in my area to see what the going rates were for different work then I priced mine comparably. I would just go in and ask for a price list or if something quick came up I would call them, tell them the work that needed doing and asked them approximately how much would they charge – of course they thought the work was mine. I’m not sure they would have given me a price if they knew I was doing the same work they were doing.

I purchased Microsoft Office and a Word Perfect Program because I wanted to contact Law Offices that might outsource work to me and they all used Word Perfect. I bought a good computer and since I couldn’t afford a laser printer I got a good ink jet printer that mimicked a laser printer.

To advertise I went to small neighborhood printers, told them what I was doing and several of them passed their customers on to me and they allowed me to put up a flyer advertising my business. I went to Law Offices, dentist offices, catering halls, day cares, any place that might have a need for temporary typist and because they were in my area getting to them was a breeze – one even dropped stuff off to me in the evening on their way home and picked it back up the next morning. I even put up flyers in supermarkets, pharmacies, schools, any place that would allow me.

I kept that business for 5 years and although I no longer have the business, one client I developed was the president of a retirement club and I continue to do her yearly mailing list/membership drive down to this day. Keep in touch with past clients with postcards, flyers, etc.

If you have any other minor questions, you can contact me at bestimpressionfirst@att.net.

Have fun and most of all be accurate.

Nancy Your questions about work at home business

Nancy asks…

What is the best and most legitimate home business/work at home work that actually works, and how do I start?

I’m looking for something I can do full-time from home that will replace and make me more money than my current 9 to 5. I’m looking for something that IS NOT A SCAM, and that takes VERY LITTLE money to get started.

Neil Walker answers:

I think the best home based business opportunity would be dealing with a product that is and always will be in high demand. There are a lot of products and services out there that are good. But you really need to find a business that you would injoy and something that would be easy to sale and not have to keep re-selling items. I think the best industry to look into is in the telecommunication industry, because it involves things that people will always use and pay for anyway, pretty much no matter what. You wouldn’t have to worry if money became tight that they could easily run to the store and purchase on sale or be able to buy it at the dollar store. That’s why we got involved in the world’s largest direct selling telecommunications service provider that was started back in 1993. It’s now a 15 year old, world wide international company. With headquarters in Farmington Hills, Michigan, Charlotte, Amsterdam, Sydney and Montreal. They have been featured in several magazines like USA Today, Success, Fortune etc. Inc 500 rated them the 22nd fastest growing company in revenue in it’s first five years. They market in services people use every day and pay for anyway, like I had said. Services like Local and Long Distance telephones, Internet, Digital, video phones, Satellite TV, and all the major cellular phone companies like T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, Nextell, Altell etc as well. We save people money and make money at the same time. Every single month these people pay their bills, we make a percentage over and over again each month. That’s just one way you get paid in this industry.
How many people do you know, or know of around the world that uses one or more of these services or products? . A lot of money involved in this industry.

But maybe your not into telecommunications. Maybe you like the challenge of having to consitantly run out on a daily bases and sale product after product after product. Only you can decide for yourself what type of home based business you would want to get involved in.

There are thousands of different home based business opportunities out there for you to look into in different industries. Below is a link to a yahoo blog in which a mom created to help people find something right for them. A lot of good industries to look into. I think this would give you some really good ideas to look into. None of the ones listed are scams, they are all legitament companies registered with the bbb.
Hope this helps you find a good home based business for you.

Robert Your questions about work at home business

Robert asks…

work at home business know how info online is huge. So why are so many people still failing so miserably?

There is so much information online telling people how to start and operate a successful internet business. Yet, between 95% – 98% prospects still do not seem to get it rigtht. The result is consistent home business venture failure for the masses. Why such a high percentage of failing? Some, or probably, most newcomer to the internet really, really try hard to implement what the numerous guides and manuals tell them to do. Still, massive, helpless, hopeless failing persist. What can an internet newbie do to ensure his or her success at a work at home business?

me125x125 cropped Your questions about work at home business

Neil Walker answers:

More than one reason for the failure. One of the important reasons is the failure to REACH to the people who will sue the product/service. Even after reaching those people, one has to be able to convince them to use it.

A newbie should ensure he/she will be able to get enough clients in the first few months of the biz. Also, a ‘personal’ touch like calling people etc, rather than just mailing/faxing them. Also, most importantly, ensure that the quality of the product/service is good, and get that message across to prospective clients.
