How can I link to a computer at work from home?
I own my own business and have VNC loaded on the computers at work so that computer technicians from another company can log onto my computers if I have any problems. How can I use this technology so that I can log onto my work computers from my laptop at home?

The hardest part is busting through your firewall/router. If you don’t control that, ask someone who does to open the VNC ports and forward them to your computer. This is a simple setup. I ssh into a linux box and then port forward to any machine I want on the network, this works much better.

I am an employee at a small profit organization and often use my home computer to do work at home. In order to complete this work from home, I copied the software program I use at work to my home computer. The only time I ever use the software is when I preform work for the organization. Is this unethical or illegal?

unethical or illegal is when people do thing without right or knowledge from the right owner. if you afraid of doing thing unethical or illegal then inform your employer what you are doing and ask them whether you can continue doing it.

If it’s a larger company, chances are they have VPN connections available for employees to connect back to their office from home. If that’s the case, look into using RDP for a Windows XP box or UltraVNC if it’s not.
