If you have a business or product you want to promote it’s important to follow some guidelines when you’re marketing on Twitter.
Twitter is a great site that you can tell the world what you’re up to in 140 characters or less. So what are you going to share with such limited space? Are you going to talk about what you’re eating for dinner, watching on tv, or planning to do for the weekend? Do you plan on promoting your business or website? Whatever you talk about it’s important to be yourself and capture your audience if you want your voice to be heard.
Just think about how many tweets people see on a daily basis. What are you going to write about that’s going to grab peoples attention and get them listen to what you have to say?
It’s okay to promote a business or website on Twitter as long as you use moderation and post valuable content. Make sure that the information you post is helpful to your followers. People are tired of hearing about the latest and greatest business opportunities and products.
Try to avoid becoming known as a “product or mlm pusher” when you’re marketing on Twitter. This will severely hurt your credibility and your followers will drop off very quickly.
People are interested in knowing the real you. They don’t care about your business. That’s why you want to be yourself, have fun, and be interesting.
Remember that 140 characters is not much space to share information, so make sure that you don’t bore your audience to sleep.
You can still post about what your eating or what movie your watching as long as you balance these tweets with others types of tweets.
If you’re marketing on Twitter then here’s a couple of guidelines to follow. Only send out 1 business tweet for every 3 tweets that you post and only send out between 5-6 tweets a day.
If you follow these guidelines, your posts will stay fresh and your followers won’t think you are being a cheesy salesperson.
The more places that you post your Twitter link, the more followers that you’ll gain. Post your link on Facebook, your blog, email signatures, and any other relevant sites.
If you don’t want to get your account banned then I highly recommend avoiding automatic Twitter services that offer bulk followers and mass tweeting. There are some legitimate sites out there but avoid using them if possible.
Just Unfollow and Tweetlater are a couple of sites that I recommend using. They have proven to be legitimate sites but just use them sparingly.
You want to take every precaution possible to make sure that your Twitter account doesn’t get banned.
You can generate a lot of prospects within your niche marketing on Twitter if you follow the proper rules of engagement.
