As an internet marketer you know that your website is your bread and butter. The home of your content that hopes to turn visitors and surfers into buyers, or subscribers. You must realize that a good website, that converts, is essential to the process. Yet… your blog or website will only be one aspect in your IM business. You probably know the other part: traffic, and you’ll need it obviously. Quite obviously, if no one knows it’s there… who’ll buy all your great stuff?
Submit your site to link directories. You want to find privately owned and actively moderated directories and submit your site to as many as you can. You can submit your site to many directories for free. Getting links from many directories can help to raise your website’s page rank. It also helps that people know these sites have to be approved, so this gives your website a higher value in the minds of people who see it listed there. People who look at these directories may visit your site, bringing you more traffic.
Find people who create content related to your niche and request that the contribute articles to your website. Tell them that if they give you an article in your niche topic, you’ll publish a link back to their website. This is good for two reasons. Getting outbound links is one way to improve your page rank. But you’ll also be acquiring an inbound link as well. If you publish someone’s article on your site, they will want to tell their own readers about this; when they do this, they’ll have to include a link to the article, which is, of course on your website, providing you with a link. You build both your inbound and outbound links this way and the contributor’s audience will come over to your site to check you out!
Register with several social media networks and fill out the profiles, including your website url. Facebook, MySpace and other such sites can be very powerful marketing tools, so don’t neglect them! If you use these sites in the right way, by joining groups and networking rather than spamming, you can build up huge amounts of traffic which can lead to lots of sales! If you explore your own niche a little, you’ll find that other marketers have created profiles on social networking sites; take a look at these and see what they’re doing. As you meet people who are interested in what you have to offer, you can gain a following, some of whom will become regular buyers of your products!
You’ll find there are many methods for traffic generation. But it’s a process that is always continuing and never ending. Unless you outsource, building backlinks and working on traffic should be attended to each day. With so much variety, hopefully it won’t need to be a boring task. After all-what’s an hour or so a day if it brings in hundreds of dollars in sales?
